Platform Reliability Engineer

Functieomschrijving

At LessonUp, our main driver to start the day is our mission. We want to make smiles appear on the faces of over 1 million teachers in the world. Our platform will make this happen by being an easy to go to place to make interactive, present-day classes to share with the kids. Together, the teachers and the LessonUp team have already made thousands of classes, video’s, images and assignments to work with. In class, or remote! An easy and fun way to teach - just like it should be.

The amount of users is growing - we’ve reached 150k users some time ago - and we always want to make the platform better and more scalable. This is the time to level-up our quality of service and hire our very first Platform Reliability Engineer.

The fun of working at LessonUp
As a developer, you will find some great things at LessonUp. Apart from a mission driven team that is ready to make a change, you will work on something that is being used on a daily basis by thousands of teachers. We also highly value your personal development. Apart from the learning curve you will get from working in our team and amongst other high quality professionals (50% of the team is in the tech/product team), we will set-up a personal development plan and will offer your time and education, based on your personal learning goals.

Our Tech stack

LessonUp works on a Kubernetes cluster in Google Cloud. In this role you will create a bridge between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration topics. You will split your time between operations/on-call duties in the back-end and developing systems and software that help increase site reliability and performance. You will be the one responsible for making sure our platform is constantly “buzzing” like it should be.

The Technologies we use
> Node.js.       > React.           > Firebase               > Javascript
> Typescript  > Mongo Db    > ElasticSearch     > Meteor

Your skills
> Solid experience with Node.JS, Typescript and of course Kubernetes and the Google Cloud Platform or another cloud based system
> Highly analytical and curious intellect.
> The right experience and knowledge to identify and drive improvements to make the system more fault-tolerant and better scalable.
> You can practice sustainable incident response handling, blameless postmortems, and have the ability and desire to debug, and optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
> Experience with Prometheus is a plus.

Practical stuff: You currently already live and work in The Netherlands and your English is at least on a C1 level.

What we offer you
+ An interesting and competitive salary and if needed, a VISA sponsorship
+ Flexible work location: we are currently working remote-first. We would appreciate seeing you in the office about 2 times a month, but we can look into that together. You are also welcome to come (safely) in the office any time you want to.

+ A work week of 32, 36 or 40 hours a week. What fits your personal life best.
